Which Electric Heating Systems are the Best?

March 7, 2020

You have a number of options when it comes to electric heating systems for your home. Some are more efficient than others or can do zoned heating better. Here are the main options you have for these types of heating systems.

Baseboard Heat

A baseboard heating system has a unit in each room of your home. The units use electricity to heat metal pipes and the heat is transferred to your living space via spinning aluminum fins. The nice thing about this system is that you can heat only the rooms that are being used, cutting your energy bill.

Heat Pump

Heat pumps are the most efficient way to heat an entire home. They have a lower operating cost than any other heating system. Heat pumps can heat and cool your home by exchanging the heat in your house with that in the ground or air outside.
At Accurate Heating & Cooling, based in East Peoria, we install, service, and repair all brands of heating systems, including heat pumps.

Electric Furnace

Many people don’t have a natural gas line to their home. They instead rely on an electric furnace. These furnaces can be more expensive to run than other ones as heat is lost in the ducts. Also, electricity is often more expensive than natural gas.
The system utilizes a blower that sends air over heating elements. The air is then blown into the ductwork and comes out of registers in each room. One major benefit is that these furnaces don’t emit carbon monoxide, unlike natural gas furnaces.

Electric Radiators

You can buy wall-mounted and freestanding electric radiators. You set them up wherever you want heat in your home. They don’t require maintenance and come in many sizes, shapes, and wattages.
